Paul Verdier (Polo) is a French alpinist, UIAGM high mountain guide and snowboard / splitboard / ski instructor. Born in the famous spa town of Evian Les Bains just down the road from us here in Chatel. Polo grew up skiing and climbing in the Chablais region.
"Our go to guide for 4000m+ summits."
In his youth Polo competed at the highest levels in ski jumping and other Nordic disciplines whilst always harbouring the dream of becoming a UIAGM guide.
His mentor during his period as an aspirant guide was none other than Rider Social guide Jean-Yves Fredriksen. Learning from one of the best in the business saw Polo qualify with distinction in 2013 from ENSA in Chamonix ( French National Ski & Mountaineering School)
"Eiger and Matterhorn in Europe."
Since 2016 Polo has been the lead UIAGM on our high mountain and worldwide trips. He is also our best pure splitboard guide, his solid understanding of the routes and terrain best suited for splitboard touring and easy going manner has seen him become a big group favourite.
He leads our worldwide trips with Norway, Georgia and Romania, being a few of his favourite destinations. He is our go to guide for 4000m+ summits and multi-day hut tours.
His enthusiasm for splitboarding and ability to find the best snow for clients has attracted support from both Jones & Spark R&D
Polo helps to guide and share best safety practices with the European Jones Snowboard athletes on their early season safety sessions.
In the summer months he guides private clients across technical Alpine terrain and also leads climbs on the Eiger, Matterhorn and Mont Blanc.
