Crew Support & Back Marker
Jem’s love of riding in the backcountry saw him naturally make the transition into splitboarding. Since 2009 he has been chasing and ticking off big splitboard accessed lines in the Chablais and Grand Massif areas.

Jem has a solid understanding of how to approach different types of terrain, of weather patterns and avalanche risk. He is trained in rescue and also has mountain first aid qualifications under his belt. He can lend a wealth of tips and tricks to anyone who needs a friendly helping hand on the way up.
Also a designated back marker it is Jem’s responsibility to ensure all clients are safely down to where the lead guide stops before heading down himself.
On the ascents he may either tour at the back of the group or, should it be in deep fresh snow, directly behind the lead guide to ensure there is a well-made skin track for clients to follow in.
He also carries spares and repair kit for the group.
A keen skateboarder and surfer. His other interests are DJ’ing with funk and soul vinyl, environmentalism and Australian sheepdogs.
In May 2022 Jem passed away suddenly. He’ll always be with us in the mountains, we’ll carry him in our memories & in our hearts.
