A splitboard trip to Asia offers a rare and refreshing change of pace. Life here moves slowly, especially in the remote mountain regions that we visit. It is a welcome shift from the busy and hyper connected world most of us live in. Guided Asia splitboard trips provide you with one of the most immersive cultural experiences in snowboarding, from unforgettable food to the warm hospitality of the people and their traditions.

You might not immediately think of Central Asia as a splitboard destination but once you experience the place for yourself, you’ll quickly understand why we return each year. The regions we visit hold an impressive variety of splitboard terrain that suit every level of snowboarder. When you head east with us, you can expect big mountains, quiet valleys, wild landscapes and reliable snow.

In Georgia, we’ll take you to a remote basecamp in the Racha region set beneath the gaze of the Svaneti National Park. This private zone is perfect for easy splitboard touring and super fun snowboarding.

In Kyrgyzstan, you’ll explore the wild backcountry of Jyrgalan, in the foothills of the Tien Shan mountains. This is a raw and beautiful part of Central Asia, rich in history and culture.

Our UIAGM certified guides lead every trip, and we also work closely with experienced local guides in each country. This gives you the safest and most authentic experience in these big mountains. Days are spent travelling through unexplored terrain and evenings are spent sharing meals and stories with the local communities.

2026 Georgia Trips availability

Over the past couple of seasons we’ve visited during March and even though we scored great snow we reckon that a January visit should deliver an all-time powder bonanza.

This is a super fun trip for those of you looking for those deeper turns, it’s cheaper than Japan and much nearer too.

This Far East adventure includes nights sleeping in remote yurts, ski-doo assisted freeride days and using horses. Riding with your splitboard on your back through deep snow through the Kyrgyz backcountry is a truly unique experience.

Along with Paul Verdier, UIAGM on guiding duties we will also be joined by Laurent ‘Bibs’ Bibollet UIAGM.

Where are the best places to go splitboarding in Asia?

Some of the best places for splitboarding in Asia can be found in both Georgia and Kyrgyzstan. In Georgia, we head to the remote mountains of the Racha region and its quiet valleys, deep snow and long descents. In Kyrgyzstan, we explore the Jyrgalan region in the foothills of the Tien Shan mountains, a wild yet peaceful place that’s perfect for splitboard touring. Both destinations hold reliable snow and give a strong sense of adventure.
When is the best time to go splitboarding in Asia?

The main touring season runs through from late January to early April. Early season touring gives you deep, dry snow. Later in the season you get longer days, clearer skies and more settled conditions leading to spring snow conditions, but powder can still be found. Each destination is slightly different, but all offer good splitboarding throughout this period.
Is splitboarding in Asia suitable for beginners?

There are zones in Kazakhstan that offer yurt-based skiing on short pitch, low angle terrain that beginners could join, as long as they are confident riding off piste. On our Kyrgyzstan trip we only take people with experience as the splitboarding can be technical in the Jyrgalan region.
Do I need a guide for splitboarding in Asia?

We strongly recommend hiring a guide in Asia. The mountains are remote, the terrain is complex and the weather can change very quickly. Our UIAGM certified guides work closely with expert local guides to keep you safe and to take you to the best snow each day. They also help you understand the local culture, which is a big part of the splitboard Asia experience.
What kind of terrain can I expect?

Asia offers a huge variety of terrain. You can expect open bowls, long mellow descents, steep faces and deep powder in the forests. The mountain ranges in Georgia and Kyrgyzstan have many different aspects and elevations, which means reliable snow even in variable weather. There is something for every rider.
What equipment wilI I need for a splitboard Asia trip?

You will need a splitboard, skins, poles and avalanche gear. This includes a transceiver, shovel and probe. Boot crampons, a harness and ice-axe are also helpful in Kyrgyzstan. In Racha, Georgia the zone is not technical, and you will only need your transceiver, shovel and probe when splitboarding there with us.
