Splitboard Norway 8 – 15th May 2020 2795€
Splitboard touring in the Arctic Circle is a special experience and to splitboard in Norway is a dream for most splitboarders around the world. It is a bucket list destination set in an other-worldly beauty. The terrain is incredible and every turn you make on the way down will of been earned every step of the way up….
For the 3rd year running in May 2020 we will be based once again in the Tamokdalen and Lyngen areas of the Troms region. Apart from its amazing snow record Troms is also famed for its spectacular views of the Northern Lights.
Tamok is still a relatively unknown splitboard touring destination and it offers world class descents ranging from spicy couloirs to well spaced tree runs and open powder fields.
From past experience we have chosen early May as the optimum time to visit Norway as the snowpack should be more predictable and the weather usually stable enough to give us the possibility to summit our objectives each and every day.
The accommodation we use is usually a privately owned 3 bedroom house in the valley. It is a typical yet comfortable base for the week. No coming back to self-catered, crowded dorm room or damp shoreline cabin. Your crew support member will be in charge of catering for you each day – breakfast & dinner.
A Rider Social Norway trip only ever takes small groups (4 people maximum) as we can move faster as a group and it opens up access to more interesting and safely UIAGM managed terrain. You will get to ride bigger and better lines than if you are in a group of 6 or 8 people.
We will arrive at Tromso airport on Friday 8th May.
From here we will make the 90 minute transfer north to Tamokdalen. The 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th will be spent touring and freeriding in some of the most beautiful spots on the planet. We will depart early on the 15th May for the return flight home.
You will need to be in good shape for a Norway trip with us as we expect to be walking between 1200 and 1500 meters of vertical each day.
Splitboard experience whilst advantageous is not strictly necessary. However, we will need to verify your suitability for the trip beforehand if you have none. The riding will most likely be of the spring snow variety – potentially icy on the way up and beautifully smooth on the descents.
What People Say
That was an awesome trip! Definitely added a few permanent clips to the memory bank. Untracked powder lines and steep couloirs. A couple of decent skin tracks back up too!
Thanks for an absolutely brilliant week – I’ll be back soon.
It will change your life.
